University of Nottingham Korfball Club

What is Korfball? I hear you ask. Simply it’s a bit of mix between netball and basketball. It is the only mixed team sport where players alternate between attacking and defending allowing everyone a chance to shoot. UoN have four teams to cater for all abilities and commitment level. Our teams play weekly in league fixtures and also travel to fun-filled weekend tournaments. An annual trip to Holland, the home of Korfball, for a huge tournament and incredible socials are the highlights of the year. UoNKC is known in the korfing world for its success in BUCS competitions, national and local leagues. The 2016-2017 season saw the 1st team finish 6th at BUCS and also 6th in Central England Korfball League 1. Our 2nd team won GOLD at National Trophy and our 3rd team won SILVER at National Plate. Our 4th team impressed all with a dominant performance at National Plate, finishing 16th above many 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams from other universities. Combined, these performances make us the 2nd best university club in the country - pipped to the first place podium by one BUCS point! It is a sport for all with the social side arguably being the main event. As a mixed team sport we can boast some of the best socials in the SU. We are a laid back club welcoming new members throughout the year. So if you want to try something new and be part of one of the best clubs in the University, come and give Korfball a go. Taster sessions will be put on for the start of term and most importantly will be FREE. Come along and give Korfball a go! We will be live streaming the 3s game against Birmingham 3s to compete in the quarter final at 15.45, and the 4s vs. Cardiff 3s at 4.15. Please show your support #GreenandGold πŸ’šπŸ’›

So there we have it, our new UoN Korfball committee for 2018-19! Thank you for everyone who came to support, and a special thanks to those who ran for position. Looks like it is going to be another amazing year, can’t wait to see what this bunch have in store for us!

The position for 1st team Captain is still available, due to limited interest at the AGM. We will fill this role later in the year once the new teams are decided!

Another fantastic day for University of Nottingham Korfball Club this Saturday at BUCS, as we saw our 3s and 4s progress to National Shield! The day brought some great individual performances, however it was the combined optimism and effort from all the team members that lead to Notts claiming the 2nd and 4th position!

We look forward to travelling to Manchester in March, to fight for the medals at National Shield!
